No Place Like Home For The Holidays

Gosh I feel like I'm always getting so behind on this blog and then I'm back here apologizing for not writing!! :(
SORRY!!
I've been ridiculously busy for the past month. Finishing up tons of projects at school, working a lot to save money for my trips, piano recitals, oh, and I had the flu and missed an entire week of school which put me way behind in like EVERYTHING!! Needless to say, it's been crazy!

I leave tomorrow for Houston and a much needed break from everything! I'm just really going to miss my puppy! :( But I'm excited to see all my friends; they always give me the warmest welcome reception. I've already got my entire weekend planned out! Haha.
It's going to be a bittersweet Christmas though... I'm spending it with Dad and Sophie is spending it with Mom. So we're all divided now and it sucks. I'm starting to realize the holidays will just never be like they used to be.
Also, apparently my Dad has already been through a string of short "relationships". Ugh... He seems quite desperate to find someone. So much so that he's not being picky at all and that really concerns me. He flew to Florida with some woman to meet her family for Thanksgiving and he'd only known her for 2 months! And she has an 11 year old daughter who she introduced him to like after 2 weeks! That's just plain irresponsible, in my opinion. I mean, for all she knows my dad could be like a molester or something! I mean, obviously he's not, but it never fails to surprise me the things people neglect to think about when it comes to their children. But whatever. She dumped him apparently, and now he's already got some other broad lined up. My mom seems to think it's funny. Funny!! But I guess that's better than her being upset about it. ((Rolls eyes))

I'm definitely going to be seeing Gavin during this trip. And we are definitely going to do it. Lol. At least that's the plan, but we'll see...
Speaking of guys, I kind of met someone here in Chicago. And when I say I met someone, I pretty much literally meet MET because I've only hung out with the dude once. He's very nice, cute, Brazilian, speaks fluent Portuguese, smart, musical, yada yada. But he's only 25, and he's a bit short. I know, I'm being ridiculously picky, but the age thing always seems to get me in the end. I could overlook his height, but I'm not sure about the age. But anyway, he just flew to Brazil yesterday and he won't be back till mid January so I have plenty of time to just...let the pieces fall where they lie. I mean he's definitely interested in me, I can tell, but I've noticed that he and some girl in Rio keep facebooking each other, and he told me he was going to Rio for NYE so...I dunno. I'm not going to put all my eggs in one basket, that's for sure.
Whatever. I'm excited to see my friends, and Jenna! I finally get to meet her baby girl! I'm so excited. Oh! And I'm going to one of Todd's football games with my Dad and Sophie over the weekend too! So that will be fun. I haven't been to a game since his rookie season! And when Todd was here last he was asking me if I was going to come to any this season, so I cashed in, in a manner of speaking...
One more thing! Did I tell you guys that my cousin Lexi and I are going to Harry Potter World this January?? I'm almost more excited about that than Christmas!! LOL! She's as big of a HP fan as me and she's never been so it's gonna be totally awesome! I can't wait.
Well, I will try to post again soon, but what with my traveling and Christmas and everything, I can't make any promises. Sorry!

Happy Holidays Everybody!! Thanks for sticking with me! :)

White Christmas

So many great things going on here in Chicago!
Sister and I went an saw an awesome improv show last night, and there was this really hot guy in the show! We also facebook stalked him and found out he's equally as crazy about Harry Potter as I am. He may just be my future husband, this guy. Haha.
I put a deposit down on an apartment, and it's great! Well, it's a condo actually, and I'll be living with 2 guys. One of them is a firefighter, and the other is a bartender. I didn't get to meet the bartender, but I did get to meet Dane, the firefighter. He's kinda shy, and quiet, but really nice. And I bet he has some hot firefighter friends....
Oh, and the place is awesome! My room is big, with it's own door to the outside, perfect for Jasper. There's also a completely fenced-in courtyard in the back for him to play in. And the condo itself is really nice. Dark wood floors, very spacious, 2 floors. Love it! I'm so excited to move here!
Tonight Sophie, Brent, Taylor and I all had lasagna and eggnog, watched a movie, played ghetto scrabble and then went out for a walk around the neighborhood... Which ended up turning into an hour long snowball fight. It was a blast. And I'm so glad I get to have a white Christmas this year, as opposed to the 80 degree weather I left back in Houston!
Well, I just wanted to give you guys a quick update. Hope everyone is having a fabulous holiday!

Happy Christmas!

Love,

Peyton

Come Away With Me

Nine months. That was how long it had been since she'd seen him. Since she'd surprised him with that little kiss on the cheek at Ed's Country Ballroom. She still felt the blood rush to her face every time she thought about that night. She couldn't believe she was finally going to see Danny after all this time.
They had kept in touch since she'd last seen him. Letters, and phone calls... But it just wasn't the same. And she was worried about him. About the way his trips to the bar and gotten more and more frequent. About how their conversations had gone from subtle flirtations, to deep conversations at 3 in the morning, about life and everything in it. About how he usually never remembered those conversations the next day, because he'd been too drunk the night before. About how her feelings for him, which had certainly grown, were now becoming jaded and colored with concern. She sighed as she combed out her long brown hair. Straight as sticks, she'd always thought.
It was Christmas Eve. She had been at church with her family when he called. His message said he was in town for just a couple days, and he was having people over. He wanted to see her. She wanted to see him too, but she was afraid.
As she got in the car, she began to feel her heart flutter. She could hardly keep herself from smiling on the way over to his house. When she finally pulled in the driveway, she checked her makeup in the rear view mirror once, took a deep breath, and got out of the car. She let herself in through the garage, just like everyone always did. She could hear raucous laughter and the loud clinking of beer bottles and billiards balls coming from the loft. She took the stairs 2 at a time. His back was to her when she first caught sight of him. He was taking his shot. He sunk 3 balls. Then stood, and turned...
He looked different. He had put on some muscle, he was tanned from months in the desert and his cheeks were rosy from windburn. But his eyes were the same. Captivating blue, with a devilish gleam. And his smile, slightly lopsided, and holding the promise of kisses; that was the same too. She let out the breath she didn't realize she'd been holding. He was beautiful. Not in a conventional way. In the way that the person you love is always beautiful, in a way only you can see. He picked her up in an embrace, just like old times, and they laughed.

"You want a beer or somethin'?" He asked in that familiar country drawl.

She looked, with dismay, at the table full of empty beer bottles that Danny had obviously drank.

"No thanks." She said, and she took a seat on one of the stools, next to Danny's sister.

They chatted about school while they watched the guys finish their pool game. She had always been fond of Danny's younger sister, Mandy. She definitely had a much more level head on her shoulders, but they were still alike in many ways.
Most of that night would always be a blur to her, bookended by two defining moments: when she arrived, and when she left.
She stayed there, even after all Danny's friends had gone. They sat on the couch and talked for a long time. But it was starting to get late, and it was Christmas Eve. So she knew she needed to go soon.
He walked her out to the garage.
As she began to slowly walk to her car, she realized he wasn't following her when he called her name.
She turned around, and there he was lighting a cigarette. She walked brusquely up to him, yanked the cigarette out of his mouth and stomped on it.
He laughed. He used to get mad when she did this, but apparently he'd come to expect it by now. And it almost took her by surprise. Danny looked at his feet.

"Come away with me." He said.

"What??" She breathed.

He looked back up at her with that familiar grin.

"I've been all over the world, and I've never met anyone like you. I'm being transferred to South Carolina. Come with me." He sounded almost desperate.

"Danny... That's crazy. I'm still in high school."

"Yea, but you're about to graduate! You could come when you finish school." He paused. She didn't know what to say. "Look, I know it sounds crazy, but...I'm serious, I think about you all the time. When I was overseas, your letters were what got me through the day. You keep me sane. And you help me to be a better person. You're the only girl I know who calls me out the way you do, and it's like...I don't wanna disappoint you."

She could feel tears prickling in the corners of her eyes. No one had ever said anything like this to her before. Not even her current boyfriend.

"I know you have a boyfriend. But that's not gonna last." He said, as if he knew what she were thinking.

She looked up at him defiantly.

"You don't know that! Jeremy loves me."

"Oh yea? Then where is he?"

She sighed in frustration. She knew Jeremy had been blowing her off, and here Danny was pointing it out, and he was right. If Danny had never joined the Navy, if he'd never been sent overseas, things maybe could have been different, but they weren't. That was the path he had chosen. And this was the path she had chosen.

"I have to go." She said, suddenly feeling a little choked up. She turned around quickly, shoved her hands in her pockets, and hunched against the cold as she all but ran to her car.

"Wait!" Danny called. She didn't look back. "You still owe me a kiss!"

She froze in her tracks. But she couldn't bear to turn around and look at him.

"I'm sorry Danny." She called over her shoulder as she slammed the car door shut.

She drove like a bat out of hell. It was a bad habit she had when she got upset or angry. She pulled out her phone and began to dial Jeremy's number.

"Hello?"

"Hey," She said, trying to mask the fact that she'd been crying. "What are you doing?"

"Playing GTA with Greg...what's up?"

"Um...nothing. I just was hoping I could see you. I mean, we haven't really spent any time together since you've been home for the holidays."

"Yea well I've been busy with family stuff. Hey, can I call you back? Cuz we're kind of at an intense part in this game."

"Yea fine." She said, steeling herself.

"Ok bye." He said.

She immediately yanked the wheel hard to the left and pulled a U-Turn in the middle of the street. Luckily, since it was Christmas Eve, there wasn't any traffic. She sped even faster back to Danny's house. When she pulled into his driveway, he was still standing in the garage, leaned up against the wall, with his arms crossed, almost as if he'd been expecting her.
She opened the door, set one foot outside and called over to him across the roof of her car, "Well? Aren't you going to come get that kiss I owe you?"

He didn't smile, and he didn't say anything. He just walked, as fast as he could possibly walk, without running. When he reached her he took her face in both of his hands. She looked into his eyes, and in that moment, she completely surrendered. He kissed her with a violent fervor. Her hands grabbed the back of his neck in desperation, and his tangled up in her hair. When they finally parted, she was breathless. She had never been kissed that way before. But then, she had never been kissed by Danny before.

He smiled at her finally; her favorite crooked smile, and she smiled back.

"Goodnight Danny." She said and she got back in the car. He shut the door for her, and she rolled down the window. He kissed her once more, briefly, through the window, and then she drove off into the night, feeling light as a feather, invincible, happy, elated; as if nothing could ever come between them.

White Elephant Sex Toy Christmas Cocktail Party!
Last night was an absolute success! I met Law School at his place, and he drove us to the party. I wore a strapless black cocktail dress, very classic, and simple, with red pumps, to be festive. We were a bit late to the party, but we got there at just the right time. I introduced Law School around to the people he hadn't met before, and we helped ourselves to drinks. Mark and some of the other guys were watching the football game in the living room, so Law School kind of drifted in that direction shortly after we got there. He made a really great party date, because he mingles and makes friends easily, so I didn't have to babysit him. There were lots of people there, Bethany, Tugg, Summer and Ben, of course, Tara and Hot Dereck, Mark, JC, and Ali and Taryn, and their dates, and some of Ben's friends from work, that I didn't know. But everyone was really nice. We waited till everyone was a little bit sauced before we began the White Elephant game. I, myself, brought nipple tassels, anal beads, and a Santa Clause banana hammock. Lol. Tara ended up picking my gift, and she immediately put the nipple tassels on, on the outside of her shirt! Dereck put the thong on too. They looked so funny!
The game was hilarious! Someone brought a powerdrill, with a giant dildo on the end of it. Ben picked that as his gift, and he got a huge kick out of it! There was also a "life-like" vagina, several vibrators, a lovers game, and a pool float with a life sized naked woman on it. Haha. I ended up leaving with some fuzzy, purple handcuffs, flavored lube and some Naughty Christmas Coupons. So...not bad, I don't think. Poor Law School got a pocket rocket! I have no idea what he's gonna do with that! Haha.
There were definitely lots of laughs during the game. And then of course, we all took some celebratory shots afterwards. There were 8 bartenders in attendance, so naturally we had a great liquor selection. Around 11:45, I figured it was time to get going. Both Law School and I had work in the morning. So we said our thank yous and goodbyes and headed out. He opened the door to the car for me and I got in. We chatted on the way back to his place. And then he walked me to my car. We were still deep in conversation about Wedding Crashers vs. The Hangover. Lol. Then I got in my car, and thanked him for coming.
"Well, I don't wanna get you sick..." He said, and kissed me on the cheek.
Poor guy was sneezing all night. Lol.
Then we said goodnight, and I left! All in all, it was a good night. I mean, it wasn't awkward, and we both had fun. And I know the kiss on the cheek had to mean something, because he's never done that before when we've hung out just as friends. When I got home I sent him a text message.
Me: Sorry if I kept you out too late.
LS: Don't apologize when you didn't do anything wrong!!! :)
Me: Ok then I'm not sorry!!
LS: That's better.
Me: Lol ok. Well thanks for coming.
LS: Sure, anytime...thanks for inviting me... I would have been a lot more fun if I wasn't fighting the sneezes and sniffles.
LS: I'll talk to you soon.
Me: Ok goodnight.
LS: Later skater ;) ---------- He is a huge dork. Lol.

I haven't been able to stop thinking about him all day! It's the weirdest thing. Because I mean...we're friends! Lol, and even though I've always thought of him as a possibility, I just never really entertained that possibility, until now! So it's kind of strange. I'm definitely in foreign territory here. I've never tried to date one of my friends. At least, not successfully. I mean...I sort of tried with Todd, just by telling him my feelings, but he has a girlfriend, so that obviously didn't work out. And then there was that incident with Evan. But I never wanted to date him! So this is different. Because I actually like Law School. And I actually think this could work. We have a pretty solid friendship. I mean, we've known each other, what? 6 months? And our relationship has been completely platonic. And we've had serious conversations about our past relationships, and our families, and values, and opinions, etc. So I feel like I do know enough about him to make an informed decision, for once. But there's just so much grey area. And I can tell that this is the kind of situation that will require lots of communication, in order to keep things from getting confusing. But for now, I'm just gonna let him come to me. He still owes me dinner! And he said, "Talk to you soon." so...that means he's gonna call, right?

Sophie will be here this Friday! I can't wait! She and I have a lot of things planned. Unfortunately, Brent couldn't make it down, because he just got a promotion at his job, and he couldn't get enough days off to make the trip. But I'm off on Saturday night, so Sophie and I are definitely gonna do a night out on the town. I'm really hoping Law School will join us. Sophie wants to meet him. And there will probably be a group of us. Then on the 23rd, I'm hosting a small Christmas/Late Birthday Party for Sophie at my place. We invited some of her friends, and some of mine. As of right now, it's looking like more of her friends are gonna be there, cuz all of mine are going out of town. :/ Oh well. It will still be fun! We're gonna watch Elf and play games. Maybe I should include a White Elephant, since that was so much fun last night! Except, I don't think we'll do a sex toy version. Lol. It's looking like I'm gonna have a busy week!

Grand Opening!

YAY for Christmas!!
Sophie got here on Christmas Eve, which I had to work, so that kinda sucked... The other thing that I'd been feeling apprehensive about lately was The Model. I knew he was going to be in town, and Melissa said Mitchell had texted her and said they'd be going up to my work at some point.
But Christmas Day was nice! And I finally got my own CAMERA! Like a really nice Sony SLR. I'm so excited! ANNNNND, Jenna's sister, Amy, saw the pics I took of Jenna in our photoshoot, and now Amy wants me to do a boudoir shoot of her as a wedding present to her fiance! So that's gonna be exciting! I may actually be able to get this business off the ground!
So in other news, I took Sophie out to midtown Christmas night for her late 21st birthday celebration. She just turned 21 on the 22nd. Melissa and the gang met up, and we had an awesome time! We just hung out at my bar mostly because they were the only place that was open. But I managed to get Sophie drunk, so it was a success!
Unfortunately, Sophie was only here for 3 days, and she left yesterday afternoon, so that was kind of a bummer. We spend the day after Christmas at Todd's family's house. They're English and we always have a traditional Boxing Day celebration at their house. Everyone rewraps a goofy present and brings it to exchange. It's really fun. And I haven't really gotten to hang out with Todd much cuz he's been gone at school. He's on the football team and he's definitely going to be drafted into the NFL! He's set all kinds of records this year. I'm so proud of him! So while we were there, I invited Todd to come out with me to the grand opening of my works new bar. They've been working on this new shot bar for months, and The Albanian is the general manager. So of course, everyone from work was gonna be at the grand opening! So Todd said he would come!
So a few hours later, I was in my favorite white tube top, which I tied a festive red ribbon around the waste, and we were ready! Todd picked me up in his brand new red BMW. SOOO nice...
And the shot bar is freakin' awesome! It's like a new home away from home! Same people, same owners, just a different location! I love it! And I don't think I spent a penny all night! My cousin Paul, and Melissa met us up too that night. Paul was acting very strangely though...he kinda had me worried cuz of his recent stint in rehab for concaine. But anyways, I got soooooo hammered!
And I have to add that Mr. P. is like one of the sexiest men EVER! But the thing that really sticks out in my mind about that night, is how well Todd took care of me. I ended up getting so drunk, I puked in the bathroom, and confessed my undying love for Todd to Alyssa. At least I can trust her!
But...I mean, it's kind of true. Todd has always been one of my best friends, and he's such a great guy. I love him to death! AND he meets all of my standards: tall, attractive, smart, kind, he has everything going for him...
Except that he's not single. ((sigh)) What is it with me always wanting the guys I can't have?? Do I just like to torchure myself or something? ((sigh))
I've been harboring these feelings for Todd for quite some time now, but I've just been in denial about it because...well number one, he has a girlfriend who I really like! And obviously he loves her. And number 2, if they break up, I dunno what to do! I mean, I don't know how to be anything other than his friend! And it's not like I can be my usual forward self with him. I mean, like the way I am with guys I'm crushing on. Grrr this is so frustrating! I can hardly wrap my head around it.
Moving on...
Ok I'm not sure if I mentioned this before or not, but Sophie is getting married! Yea, married. January 8th. Because she and Brent are hippies and they're joining the Peace Corps, and in order to go together they have to be married for 6 months beforehand. So they're having an anti-ceremony in just a few days. Of course I'm gonna go! So I'll be in Florida for about a week in January. It seems so crazy, right!?

Ok, and New Years Eve? I have to work. And it's gonna suck. Although I did give invites to Jenna, Melissa, Charlotte, Mackenzie, and Amanda. I dunno, maybe it'll be fun. We'll see...
